BASIC YOUTH
WORK TRAINING
The Basic Youth Work Training is an interactive training programme for people aged 15+ taking place one evening per week for 8 weeks, covering the basics of what's needed to work with young people.
THE YOUTH WORK
TRAINING ACADEMY
The Youth Work Training Academy is a 6 month long programme for all South Lanarkshires young people aged from 14-21.
It covers all aspects of training needed to get started in youth work
ADVANCED YOUTH WORK TRAINING
An intensive training weekend for people aged 16+ interested in continuing on from either the BYWTraining or YWTA. This training course is delivered to the group over a full weekend residential.

Course Content
Introduction to Youth Work , Attitudes and Values, Youth Participation and Empowerment, Programme Planning, Child Protection, Equality and Anti-discrimination, and Games Games ,Games!

The Youth Work Training Academy is for young people interested in becoming volunteer youth workers in their communities. Trainees are given free training, support and work experience preparing them to volunteer with young people in their community and transferable skills which improve future job prospects.
Who can apply?
Young people aged 14-21yrs living in Blantyre & Hamilton, Cambuslang & Rutherglen or areas of Larkhall.
What will you do?
You will get the opportunity to participate in free training and work placements two evenings per week and occasional weekends. You will also be offered the chance to participate in a residential weekend away. Travel expenses and branded clothing will be provided for all participants. Students graduating from the programme will leave with increased confidence, qualifications and improved career prospects. All students will leave with a completed CV and will be supported to achieve their goals.

Course Content
Team building, local and national policies, professional relationships, planning and evaluating effective programmes, youth accreditation and partnership working.
Course Dates
This course is an intensive residential and takes place over a weekend in March each year.
